THE EVIL ONE!

Just like every good action and superhero film, there is always a 'good guy' and 'bad guy'. The arch- villain in Superman Return, is Lex Luthor. His intellect is the only superpower he needs, as he is the world's smartest man alive. Trying to create and new coastline by sinking California, only to see that Superman saved the day, Lex Luthor is the last person who would want to adore Superman, as he wants him DEAD for wrecking his plans for taking over the world.

Lex spent five years behind jail thanks to the Man of Steel. Now Lex is back, and craving for revenge. He earned the best degrees in universities, and considered entering politics until he realised that he could gain power by taking control of the world. Lex Luthor knows the only thing that Superman is weak to, and trys to find it. Throughout the film he is constantly trying to come up with plans and idea of how to eliminate Superman and win the world. But it is difficult to do that when Superman has special powers and gifts. Knowing that Clark Kent,(Superman) is in love with Lois Lane, Lex does all he can to kill Superman, even if that means killing an innocent soul.

Lex Luthor is just a important as Superman, as if there was no 'Bad Guy' the movie would be boring and purposeless. At one stage Lex and Superman fight for each other's life, but who will survive...??

SOUNDTRACK MUSIC

The soundtracks in Superman Returns is a great selection and range of music. They include such famous bands like;

1. "Quando, Quando, Quando"Written by Charles E. Boone (English version),
Tony Renis and Alberto TestaPerformed by The DriftersCourtesy of Atlantic Recording Corp.By Arrangement with Warner Music Group Film & TV Licensing.

2. "Heart and Soul"Written by
Frank Loesser and Hoagy Carmichael

3. "Spring"from "The Four Seasons"Written by
Antonio VivaldiPerformed by Budapest StringsCourtesy of LaserlightBy Arrangement with Source/Q

And many, many more....The music allows the audience to feel the emotions that the actors are feeling during the scene. The type and style of music used in the movie is occasionally;exciting, thrilling and anxious where at other times it is calm, romantic, and emotional.

Though it maybe a little too old for some of you,Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has his famous
"Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major" in the movie. It may now sound weird hearing a piano concert piece in a action Superman movie, but since is was done in a different arrangement and remixed with another song it sounded really good and blended with the movie scene.

At the beginning of the film, the Superman theme song is introduced and thrilling and up beating music is being played to get the audience excited and anxious to watch the film. The picture on the left, is one of the first scenes is the movie, at this point there is haunting, thrilling, heart beating sounds effect and music so that the mode of the movie can be set.

Kitty has just survived a terrifying situation and is thank to Superman a.k.a Clark Kent, that Kitty is still alive. The music or sound effects that will be playing this point is heroic music, as superman has just saved another person, celebration sound effects by the audience etc to congratulate he for rescuing her.
The music and sound effect is very persuasive and enjoyable to listen to and really makes you to watch the movie and places you the positions of the actors and character in the movie

SUPERMAN IS HOT!

With his unmissable outfit, he is ready to save the world-red,yellow, and blue suit that announces the arrival of the man of steel. Made year ago, by Martha Kent from the Kryptonian materials found in Superman's baby pod, the costume is highly resistant to damage and is close-fitting to allow for unrestricted, super speed movement

The symbol on Superman chest, often known as the letter 'S', is actually the crest of Krypton's house of EI. The blue fabric i uniquely Kryptonian, making it insulating, tough and stretchy, it is unlike anything found on earth. His high cut boots with thick soles provide comfort and traction.

Lois Lane is dressed very formally throughout majority of the movie. She is a very attractive young lady, who mostly wear suits and sensible clothes. Her personality is easily seen by her outfit. She wears suits mainly when going to work and whilst working in the Daily Planet.

This is one image from the movie where,Lex Luthor is gazing into the heart of one of his stolen crystals. What looks like just a crystal mineral is actually am alien technological artifact years more advanced than anything found.

In this scene Superman and Lex Luthor are fighting within each other. Superman wishes to save the world and himself, where as Lex Luthor wants to rule and conquer the world and kill Superman. Who will win?

These are just a few of the billions of images in Superman Returns! I thought that these would give you a little insider of the movie and hopefully I didn't give away the plot and exciting bits of the movie.

Insider Script

Lois Lane: How many "f's" in "catastrophic"?
Jason White: You're BALD!
Superman: I'm sorry I left you, Lois.
Lex Luthor: What do you know about crystals?

Lois Lane: They make great chandeliers.
Superman: [to Jason asleep in his bed] You will be different, sometimes you'll feel like an outcast, but you'll never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father and the father becomes the son.
Jor-El: [Superman is remembering Jor-El's last message to him from the first film] Live as one of them, Kal-El, to discover where your strength and your power are needed. Always hold in your heart the pride of your special heritage. They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son.
Superman: Listen, what do you hear?
Lois Lane: Nothing.
Superman: I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn't need a savior, but everyday I hear people crying for one.
Lex Luthor: This ordinary crystal is a seed, and all it needs is water. [pause]
Kitty Kowalski: Like Sea Monkeys?
Lex Luthor: [sighs] Excalty Kitty, like sea monkeys.

From this little extract we are able to tell the personalities and characters of each character. When Superman says "I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn't need a savior, but everyday I hear people crying for one." Instantly we are able to recognise that he is a strong, brave and heroic person who cares about the well-fair of others.

Lois Lane: How many "f's" in "catastrophic"?, here Lois sounds intelligent and serious. We can slightly pick up that Lois Lane very smart and is a perfectionist. Through the movie, Lois is seen as a star reporter and high educated person. As well as the pictures we are able to tell this by her dialogue.

Lex Luthor and his clueless yet faithful side kick Kitty, are he evil enemies of Superman. In the short dialogue above, we cant necessarily tell that Lex Luthor and Kitty are the villains in the movie, but we can see their character and personality developing. When Lex Luthor says "[sighs]Exactly Kitty like sea monkeys". Lex Luthor sounds like a smart, yet considerate person, as even tough kitty, may not be the most intelligent person alive, Lex has feeling for her and agrees to the statement, to make her feel right and not stupid.

The writer has given, the prefect and appropriate line for all the characters, and gives the audience the opportunity to observe how they grow and develop in the movie.

CAMERA ACTION!

The making of Superman is incredible. The camering used to capture specific moments of the movie, really enhances the knowledge and interest of the film to the audience.

In one section of the movie, Lois Lane and Superman have a rooftop meeting ( just the two of them), and after expressing each other their inner feelings, the camera is moving from a medium shot two a close up shot, from this the feeling of of Superman and Lois kissing is presented emotionally.

When Superman flies from Earth to Krypton in search from his home town, a long moving shot angle is used to show the audiences that superman is flying across and that he is travelling at a high speed.

Metropolis- found in North America, is the home of Clark Kent and is a trading port, news, commerce, and urban island. During one sense in the movie the city of Metropolis was introduced and shown at a large scale to the audience. The motion of the camera was at a low angle and was enlarged in size then moved father and father away, to express how big the city was.

Overall the camering used throughout the movie, was at a high standard and really allowed the audience to connect with the movie and feeling that exactly what the characters in Superman returns felt.

I believe that it is thanks to the camera angles and shots that the movie was able to be exciting and was able to engage with the audience:)

SUPERMAN what is it about?

To the public, Superman appeared like a brave, strong, masculine hero, who possessed supernatural powers, and saved the world. Coming from a destroyed planet called Krypton and not knowing his biological parents, Superman was able to fly, withstand nearly any injury and melt almost any substance with heat vision, whilst keeping an alternate identity as Clark Kent, working at the Daily Planet.

Receiving the loving care of his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, Eva Marie Saint, Clark was able to test his powers and develop into a superhero, without Jonathan and Martha knowing. But Clark still wanted to find his real parents and home place.

After eliminating General Zod and other Kryptonian enemies, (Ursa and Non) Clark leaves Earth, in search for his former home. When he finds nothing but remnants, he returns home to Earth to find that Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) is engaged to a relative of his boss; as well that Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) has another evil plan to destroy California and wipe out most of North America.

Kryptonite-the lethal substance is Superman's only weakness. As Lex Luthor learns more about this, Superman has to race against time to save the world before Luthor kills millions-possibly even billions of people.

Being offered to play Clark Kent (Superman)gave me an amazing opportunity to star in a fantastic Blockbuster movie.Filming the first few senses was great. It was really enjoyable working with Kate Bosworth (Lois Lane), Kevin Spacey(Lex Luthor), James Manesden(Richard White), Parker Poses (Kitty Kowalski) and the rest of the crew and cast. Everyone, including me, had heaps of fun working together ans really made the best of the first day on set.

Lois Lane, played by Kate Bosworth is the Daily Planets star reporter and is renowned for her stubbornness as an investigator. She always landed biggest Superman stories and once had a romantic relationship with him. It was a absolute pleasure working with Kate on set as set really is beautiful and fun to be around with.

The world's smartest man, Lex Luthor is played by Kevin Spacey who could have used his intelligence to help people but instead desires to rule the world once failing to conquer the world because of Superman, Lex gets out of jail and wants Superman dead and for finally to rule the world. Even though Kevin is my enemy is the movie, of set we were like best friend. He is a very humorous and intelligent guy who can make anyone laugh:)

Making Superman returns, was an unforgettable experience, but my favourite part of the movie, other than being with Kate Bosworth( Lois Lane) would have to be, saving the world as a hero and defeating Lex Luthor.
